Libertad a Los Presos Politicos - Limited Linocut

Design for five Mapuche political prisoners incarcerated under the Caso Quilleco in the Biobío region of Chile.

On January 20th, five Mapuche comuneros were sentenced to 15-17 years in prison for allegedly attacking forestry machinery at a logging site in the region. These excessive sentences surpassed the penalties requested by the Public Prosecutor’s Office itself.

Forestal Arauco, a logging conglomerate that has driven decades of land dispossession in the region, worked directly with state prosecutors to ensure that the five compañeros received these exemplary, politically-motivated sentences. The company is owned by the Matte family, whose estimated fortune is around $3.7 billion and holds roughly 700,000 hectares in territory rightfully belonging to Mapuche communities.

The terrorists are not those that defend our land and resources, but the billionaires that pillage our commons in the relentless accumulation of criminal wealth!

All proceeds from this linocut will be sent to the Argentinian Lawyers Guild in the defense of political prisoners across Latin America.
